Perlite

Perlite

Perlite is a lightweight soil amendment made from expanded volcanic glass and silica that transforms dense, compacted soil into an airy, well-draining growing medium.

Make room for air and drainage in a dense growing mix. Perlite's lightweight, expanded structure gives it a different job from a fertiliser: it changes the physical environment around roots rather than serving as the main nutrient feed. Consider it when preparing a potting blend where drainage and air space are priorities.
