How to use
- Calculate the amount of peat moss needed by measuring your planting area and following the recommended application rate on the packaging.
- Spread a layer of peat moss over your existing soil and mix thoroughly using a garden fork or trowel.
- Plant your seeds, seedlings, or transplants into the amended soil.
- Water thoroughly to moisten the peat moss and help it settle into the soil. Monitor moisture levels regularly – while peat moss improves water retention, regular watering is still needed to keep soil consistently moist but not waterlogged.
Gardening Tip: Pre-moisten peat moss before mixing it into soil, as dry peat moss can be hydrophobic (water-resistant) initially. For seed starting mixes, combine peat moss with perlite and vermiculite for an excellent lightweight growing medium. Remember that peat moss is acidic – for plants that prefer neutral or alkaline soil, add Serbajadi Garden Lime to balance the pH!
