You will need

  • Ask a grown-up to cut a wide opening and make drainage holes in the bottle. The adult checks every edge before you handle it.
  • Place the bottle on a saucer and fill it with suitable growing mix, leaving space at the top.
  • Sow kangkung seeds at the spacing and depth shown on the packet. Label with the date.
  • Water gently until the mix is moist and let extra water drain away. Ask an adult to choose a bright spot suitable for the seed packet.
  • Check moisture each day and record when seedlings appear. Thin crowded seedlings with adult help as the packet advises.
  • Draw the leaves twice a week. An adult checks the plant and seed guidance before any harvest or eating.
